AI is a rapidly advancing technology with the power to greatly impact society. That’s why it’s increasingly important to measure how humans feel about it.
Market research company Ipsos conducted a survey to learn how attitudes towards AI vary by country. The data was collected in 28 countries, and the results were published at the beginning of 2022 – several months before the ChatGPT going viral.
The Visual Capitalist released a single-minded infographic that’s based on the Ipsos survey. It compares public sentiment towards artificial intelligence, and includes GDP per capita.
💬 By including each country’s GDP per capita, we can see that wealthier populations are more skeptical about products and services that use the technology.
Almost 20 thousand respondents were asked to agree or disagree with a statement: “Products and services using artificial intelligence have more benefits than drawbacks.”
The general outcome is that people living in wealthier countries view AI tools and services less positively.
